Dane went on to list four things he\u00a0learned from his debilitating ALS battle\u00a0that he wanted his kids to keep in mind following his death.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope you won\u2019t just listen to me, I hope you\u2019ll hear me,\u201d he began. \u201cFirst, live now, right now in the present. It\u2019s hard, but I learned to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFor years, I would wander off mentally, lost in my head for long chunks of time, wallowing in worry and self-pity, shame, and doubt,\u201d the \u201cCharmed\u201d alum continued. \u201cI replayed decisions, second-guessed myself. \u2018I should have done this. I never should\u2019ve done that.\u2019 No more.\u201d<\/p>\n
After Dane asked Billie and Georgia to\u00a0\u201ctreasure\u201d and \u201ccherish every moment\u201d\u00a0of the present, he spoke to them about \u201cfalling in love.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<\/div>

Next, Dane reminded his daughters to \u201cchoose your friends wisely.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cFind your people and allow them to find you, and then give yourselves to them,\u201d he suggested. \u201cThe best of them will give back to you. No judgement. No conditions. No questions asked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<\/div>

\u201cI can\u2019t even do the little things I used to anymore. I can\u2019t drive around town, go to the gym, get coffee and hang out,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve learned to embrace alternatives. My friends come to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just show up. That\u2019s a big one. Just show up,\u201d Dane added. \u201cAnd love your friends with everything you have. Hang on to them. They will entertain you, guide you, support you, and some will save you.\u201d<\/p>\n
The final lesson Dane left for his daughters with his last heartwrenching words was to \u201cfight with every ounce of your being and with dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also\u00a0reminded them to \u201cnever give up\u201d\u00a0when faced with challenges and to\u00a0always \u201cfight until your last breath.\u201d<\/p>\n
